Commentary welcome (all valences)
From others:
"ooooooo. Very nice. Reminds me of the Raptor pit from Jurassic Park."
"On first glance at the thumbnail I thought this was a building-sized structure which freaked me out briefly definitely an interesting edit"
Both comments are ones that capture the essence of the kinds of reactions I'm aiming at with this.
It is supposed to be unsettling. I realize its not one of the common things that people think about when they are attempting to create meaning in the world whether that's through art, science, any category you please. I intend to generalize fairly widely...so while there are likely edge cases...forgive my error and I'll happily retract the position, but I do think most people probably don't make it their aim to jostle people. Not in a painful way, but like a less gross requiem for a dream/Borges way[^fn1]. I was told it would help to clarify that it was meant to be somewhat 'off'-putting.
I'm eager to hear what others think. Criticism as well as complements.
[^fn1]: i aim to give people what I'm guessing would be like the effect one gets the 4th time one's quoted it citing having seen it more than 4 times which is probably true [^fn1.1]
[^fn1.1]: but one's no more sure of that than one can be about the capacity for the impersonal pronoun "one" not to sound pretentious [^fn1.1.1]
[^fn1.1.1]: the capacity for the impersonal pronoun "one" not to sound pretentious is equal to one half the pretense involved in triply nested footnotes. I thought about doing it again but even I was getting annoyed at the level of faux-self-deprecation-via-oblique-self-reference. Also that. Too many dashes.
